Aunty Lois and Uncle Mel: Now that Kori has made her difficult decision about which school she will be attending I can sit back and thank you for all Na'au has done and will continue do with
Kori. We were pleasantly surprised that Kori got accepted to both
Iolani and Punahou schools. Thank you for helping her with her writing skill all these years and most recently with her SSAT testing skills. Most especially thank you making Na'au a place where she can learn and have fun in the process.
Mahalo!

My husband and I would like to thank you both and your staff for all the guidance that you have given and taught Candace. All of your time and dedication has a part of her being accepted to
Kamehameha Schools. You gave her the right tools that helped her along the way. There were many times Candace would mention to
me...Na'au is really helping me a lot. I know it has because I can see the difference in her self-confidence. Her 6th grade teacher also sees a big difference in Candace. We can't express enough how excited and very proud we are for her. Na'au has done so much for our daughter and we can't begin to thank all of you for everything! Our dream did come true. Every so often she has to pull out and read her acceptance letter to see that it's really true.
Mahalo! Mahalo to all of you!!!

We want to thank you so much for all the encouragement and support you gave Karrie throughout her admission process. She has been accepted to
Punahou, Iolani, Mid Pacific, and Maryknoll.
She is so excited to have a choice. We feel that Na'au really helped Karrie become more confident.
She now has a love for writing and wishes to continue pursuing this at whichever school she chooses to go to. Both of you are so wonderful. Many thanks again.

I am so grateful to Uncle Mel and Aunty Lois for preparing Malia for admission to private school. The atmosphere was low-key, low pressure and nurturing. I especially appreciated that the SSAT prep course focused on the whole child and was much more than drilling for a standardized test. Malia received acceptances to middle school from
Iolani, Punahou and Mid Pacific
Institute. She is so fortunate to be in a position to choose among these excellent private schools, thanks in large part to growing up with Na’au. Thank you Uncle Mel and Aunty Lois for bringing out the creative potential in
Malia!

The good news--actually the great news--is that Brigitte received acceptance letters from
Iolani, Kamehameha, La Pietra, and Punahou. We are deeply grateful for all that Na'au has done for our family. You have not only taught Brigitte specific skills that contributed to her success, but also personal skills in self-confidence, human value, leadership and creativity. We are fortunate to be a part of the Na'au family.

Great news! I just received notice that I was accepted into my first choice boarding school,
The Lawrenceville School in Princeton, New Jersey. I'll miss being in Hawaii,
and boarding school will be a drastic change for me. However, I just wanted to say thank you for
everything. With all your support and help with my
SSAT, admission interview, and application essays, I'm off to a fresh and
exciting start as a Lawrentian. This is my family's dream come true. Thank you so much Aunty Lois and Uncle Mel.

| Why
Na'au's
Test Preparation Programs?
|
|
The ACT® test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. Na`au provides our students with test-taking strategies, which includes a detailed analyses of each
section of the ACT.
The multiple-choice tests of the ACT cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. At Na`au, we are skilled
in preparing students for these areas with our specialized curriculum and our licensed teacher in mathematics. Na`au
highly recommends completing the Writing Test, which is optional--we can provide students with the expert Na`au skills
required for planning and writing a short essay that truly stands out above the rest.
The new SAT® test includes a third measure of skills --
writing. The new SAT reinforces the importance of
writing throughout a student's education. At Na`au, we are specialists in writing.
The critical reading section of
the new PSAT® test is a good reflection of the critical reading section on the
new SAT. At Na`au, we are specialists in reading.
The math section of the new PSAT
tests basic junior high and early high school math skills. The
section closely mirrors the math section on the new SAT. At
Na`au,
we contract licensed educators to assist us with preparing our students
for this part of the test.
The SSAT® test includes a writing
sample. Students are asked to support or argue a topic sentence
using specific examples from personal experience, current events,
history or literature. At Na`au, we are specialists in writing.
The SSAT also consists of 30
synonym and 30 analogy questions and a reading comprehension section,
which includes 40 questions based on about 7 reading passages.
These questions measure the student's ability to read quickly and
comprehend what is read. At Na`au we are specialists in reading.
The SSAT consists of two sections of 25 questions each in
math. The SSAT requires math computation similar to
what is useful in everyday life. Again, at Na`au we reinforce our
student's preparation with an additional licensed educator who is a
specialist in mathematics.

Na`au uses a variety of strategies including from Thinking To Learn® Building Thinking Skills Hands-On Primary, an eight-book learning readiness series that teaches children how to develop vocabulary, reading, reasoning, and analytical skills. To apply the skills, students use a range of fun and challenging activities including tracing, counting objects, finishing drawings, and working out analogies. Adaptable content fits all ability levels, and take-home lessons
(optional) allow parents to continue their child's progress at home. This curriculum is correlated to the following PRE-K & K assessments:
Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT Multilevel)
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT-8)
Woodcock-Johnson Tests (WJ III and WJ R)
Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) (WRAT-3)
These weekly one-hour lessons in small group learning taught by Aunty Lois-Ann Yamanaka and her team of teachers prepare Pre-K children for Kindergarten testing and "group observation" role playing.
