Na`au believes that writing is a
house.
The short story, essay, creative-non-fiction, and novel all
begin with a solid foundation in poetry and poetics. We
believe that writing is an art form and that a good house must be
build brick upon brick.
We believe in an organized and holistic writing process that
gives word to the soul as well as the mind which sometimes denies
us access to the truth of our lives.
We believe in the value of true apprenticeship. Where
teachers of creative and expository writing have failed is in
recognizing the essential value of learning an art form from real
writers and artists. We are writers who can teach.
We know that our lives are poetry, all of us, every breath a
metaphor. And we know that when the student is ready, the
teacher appears.
We hope to teach you to build your house. »»Learn

Test Prep Programs
|
|
At Na`au, we holistically teach your child to prepare for
standardized tests with a research-based curriculum. Like
other learning centers, we teach test-taking strategies,
vocabulary, reading comprehension, math, and analogies. But
we differ in many ways.
We feel that your child's affective needs must be addressed and
supported as part of their test preparation.
We teach writing strategies that make the child's writing
sample strong, organized, and most of all, unique and outstanding.
We provide your child with strategies needed for a successful
interview.
We provide further support through mentor recommendation
letters accompanied by a sample of your child's literary portfolio
that we develop as part of our test preparation classes.
We remind your child that true success not be measured by a
standardized test, yet encourage his/her highest achivement.
Your child will be nurtured and respected at Na`au.
