Summer Writing Testimonials
|
|
I just wanted to thank you from
the bottom of my heart! My two sons, Matt
and Kyle, just completed your summer Fiction
Writing Institute and I could not believe the
three writings that they completed in just one
week time period! It was amazing!
Their writings had me crying, laughing and just
grinning ear to ear with pride! I am
amazed at how colorful and descriptive their
writings were! Thank you so much for
giving them this gift! |

Sammi enjoyed the Paragraph Writing Institute. She told
me that she felt really inspired to write at Na'au.
There have been few times after the class when she would say,
"Uncle Mel taught me that." I'm so glad she
had the chance to learn from you. My intention was to
give her a different experience with writing -- one that she
would not get in public school. Learning from writers
boosted her excitement about writing. I think Na'au is a
great place and the inspiration begins when you enter the door
-- so beautiful, calm, and relaxing. Thanks so much for
your kindness.

Na`au
experienced a very successful, sold-out, Summer
Institute Program in 2009. The
Institutes were very
popular and well-received by students.
The writing institutes will return in 2010.
We invite you to check out Na`au's
year-round
programs. Our year-round programs are open
to K-12 and adult learners.

2009 Summer Institute Testimonials
|
This past summer, I enrolled my 9-year-old son in Na'au's Summer 2009 Writing Institutes program under the recommendation of his 3rd grade teacher, Ms.
Matsunaga, as she had seen wonderful results with her own daughter at
Na'au. I am so grateful to her for referring us to Na'au because it turned out to be just the thing my son needed. Na'au provides a positive and nurturing environment that promotes learning in a relaxing and yet productive way. It was a refreshing change to see him so eager to go to class and never once did he grumble about going! What I thought was going to be a tough challenge turned out to be a welcome surprise as I watched Sean's attitude change towards learning...in a wonderfully positive way!
Thank you Uncle Mel and Aunty Lois for providing such a wonderful educational program that balances fun with learning and most importantly fostering a willingness to learn.

Aloha Aunty Lois and Uncle Mel:
Connor has been attending Na'au the past two years and has clearly blossomed under your tutelage. We feel fortunate that he has grown to be a part of the Na'au ohana, especially during these formative years.
The Summer program was a great experience for Connor as he received an opportunity to focus on his technical skills and also further develop his character. His creative artwork using all types of media (and we mean ALL) that he brought home was a constant surprise to us. His poems which are heartfelt and simply amazing to read really touched our hearts.
To see the progress that he has made from your work has been a true joy for us. Thank you so much.

Our three Kishaba boys enjoyed attending Naau's 2009 Summer Institutes. Thank you for making each Institute a fun and learning experience for them. They have come up with 10 interesting reasons (not necessarily ranked by importance) why they should keep returning to
Na`au:
1. Okay to wear rubber slippers and t-shirt to class
2. Okay to have long hair, hair that is bleached/colored/frosted
3. Okay to have tattoos (Aunty Lois got on her arms)
4. "Can eat during class time"
5. "Ho, get good snacks over there"
6. 1/2 day classes
7. Jonathan doesn't grumble to go to Na`au
8. Great teachers at Na`au--they put up with Jonathan and brothers
9. Learning at Na`au is fun, we laugh at each other and ourselves
10. Na`au always, always ALOHA the Kishaba boys
